First Punjabi Sabyacharak Mela comes to Wellington

The Wellington Punjabi Women Association Inc. in collaboration with Hamilton Punjabi Sports and Cultural Club is hosting the first Punjabi Cultural Mela for the Punjabi community in Wellington.
The event will be hosted on Sunday, October 6, at the Town Hall in Lower Hutt where the organisers set to give the community an evening of cultural festival, food and music for the attendees.
The event is bringing an exclusive ‘stage play’ by Malkeet Singh Rauni and Gurpreet Kaur Bhangu including Hamilton team Gidha-Bhangra.
“Malkeet Singh Rauni and Gurpreet Kaur Bhangu, after the huge success of the movie “Ardass Karaan” will be bringing an exclusive ‘stage play’ to Wellington,” a spokesperson from Wellington Punjabi Women Assocation Inc. said.
There will be group performances from Wellington children, women and men teams including Turban tying competition and much more for new couples.
“Interested people can register their names for turban tying competition and newlywed couples competition before September 30,” the spokesperson said.
Hamilton Sports and Cultural team is also bringing a Bhangra team for dance performances at the Wellington event.

The Punjabi Cultural Mela ‘8th Sabyacharak 2019 Hamilton’ is also happening in Hamilton on Saturday, September 28 at Claudlands Event Centre. The two stars of ‘Ardaas Karaan’ fame will also be performing a play in the Hamilton event. This event is organised by Hamilton Punjabi Sports and Cultural Club.
