Everyone knows what a big fan Salman Khan is of veteran actor Dharmendra. Salman is always seen respecting his favourite actor on and off-screen. Even in his new movie Bharat, it is revealed that Salman took inspiration from Dharmendra's 1970 film Mera Naam Joker.

Director Ali Abbas Zafar in an interview with a leading daily revealed that the circus scenes that Salman filmed, where he is seen playing the role of a stunt artist is based on Dharmendra in the film Mera Naam Joker. Ali Abbas Zafar revealed that Bharat is a tribute to Raj Kapoor's Mera Naam Joker.

He said, "Our circus sequences are inspired from Raj Saab's Mera Naam Joker. Our circus troupe is international, just like the one in the film."

Dharmendra who got to know about how Salman Khan's character in Bharat was based on his character in Mera Naam Joker, he was super happy.

He said "Salman is like my third son (after Sunny and Bobby). He has always shown the greatest love not just for me, but also for my entire family. I am very fond of Salman. I am not surprised if he has modelled his character on me. He always says I'm his role model, so nice of him."


From the role of a stunt artist too an old guy from Delhi, Salman in Bharat will be seen essaying five different looks. Bharat which is directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, also stars Katrina Kaif, Disha Patani, Tabu, Jackie Shroff, Nora Fatehi, and Sunil Grover.

Bharat is all set to release in theatres on June 5 all over New Zealand brought by Forum Films.
