Ujjal Ghosh is at the helm of productions in Hindi and Bengali. He is one of the three founding members and the current vice-president of Rangmanch. He is the Nominated Convener of the International Theatre Festival – 2018. A known face on the Hindi and Bengali theatre scene, Ujjal da, as he is fondly known, has acted, directed and produced many plays in Hindi, Bengali and English over 18 years. Along with Jayanta Bhaduri and Pavitra Roy, he is one of the three Founder members of Rangmanch.
Khub Ladi Mardani
This Hindi play is adapted from Mahesh Dattani’s ‘Bravely Fought the Queen’. Emotional, financial and sexual complexities of Indian urban family are themes that intertwine in this play to reveal the daily charade of the Trivedi family.
Alokanandar Putrakanya
Get a glimpse into the fragile world of childless Aloka who is at once a victim and the hero of her own story with this touching tale.
Devadatt Paranjape
Devadatt’s first love is acting. Originally from Mumbai, Dev brings a depth to his performances thanks to his experience as an actor in plays and TV Serials in Mumbai. So it’s exciting to see him don the hat of a director with the Marathi production. This is his second time in the director’s seat.
Tarun Turk Mhatare Ark
Come and enjoy this evergreen, hilarious and nonstop comedy play in Marathi ‘Tarun Turk Mhatare Ark’ in Auckland. This play set a benchmark in India when it was first staged and a record 5000 shows were produced in the 1970s. ‘Tarun Turk Mhatare Ark’ meaning ‘Young Turks and Aged Extracts’ by Prof Madhukar Toradmal showcases the richness of Marathi.
Arguably, Marathi is considered to be so flexible that speakers can be rude and polite, sophisticated and crass, diplomatic and direct at the same time. This is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the nuances of Marathi with talented actors who bring a classic play to life in Auckland.

This dynamic duo, pioneers of Gujarati Theatre in NZ is proud to present ‘Maro Var Made For Me as producers. They are well known for producing quality lighthearted plays with a strong message for the community.
Debutante director Rupal Solanki also wears the badge of a versatile and well-regarded actress in community theatre. This script has never been performed anywhere before and under Rupal brings a touch of magic to it as its director.
A cast of seven talented actors are sure to take you on a rollercoaster of emotions.

They say, marriages are made in Heaven, as true as that sounds none can escape the challenges when two different individuals with different personalities come together in matrimony.
‘Maro Var Made For Me’ focuses on the joys and precious moments of life. It promises laughter and subtlety showcases life lessons too. The play is for everyone, it has no age barrier, and is refreshing in its ability to relate to you, no matter who you are or what your circumstance.
