Today marked the grand opening of the state-of-the-art community kitchen at the Takanini Gurdwara. This morning marks a significant milestone: a 200-square-meter area was transformed into a cutting-edge culinary facility, made possible through the support of the WLT, Trillian Trust, Council, and local board.
The newly renovated kitchen boasts innovative technology and modern amenities to enhance capacity to serve the community. Among the highlights is a revolutionary $90,000 pot capable of producing 300 litres of vegetables in one automated cycle, setting a new standard for efficiency and productivity in our kitchen operations.
The extensive renovations include:
- New flooring, ceilings, and drainage systems for improved functionality and hygiene.
- Installation of high-tech stoves, stainless steel walls, deep fryers, Nutella cabinets, and washing areas to streamline food preparation and cleaning processes.
- There is ample storage space with cabinets for stocking piles of utensils and a dough machine, ensuring seamless organization and accessibility.
The total investment of $345,000 from their partners has enabled them to realize the vision of creating a hub for culinary excellence that not only serves thousands of meals weekly but also acts as a beacon of hope and support for the community.
During the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic, this kitchen was pivotal in nourishing thousands of individuals, a testament to its vital importance to the community's well-being.
The council's recognition of this impactful service underscores their commitment to investing in projects that benefit the wider community. The support of the local council, local board, Trillian Trust, and the Wiri Licensing Trust has made this project a reality.
