New Delhi witnessed a spectacular celestial phenomenon on Friday night as a rare meteor blazed across the skies, stunning residents across the National Capital Region (NCR). Eyewitnesses in Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, Ghaziabad, and even distant Aligarh reported seeing a brilliant flash of light that illuminated the sky for just a few seconds — bright enough to outshine the city lights.
The dazzling streak, followed by the meteor apparently breaking apart mid-air, sparked awe among onlookers and quickly became a talking point on social media platforms, with many sharing videos and images of the event. Astronomers explained that such meteors are often small fragments of asteroids or comets that burn up upon entering Earth’s atmosphere, producing a bright fireball effect.
