Police intensify search for missing 81-year-old Valerie Hargrave
Police are continuing efforts to locate 81-year-old Valerie Hargrave, who has been missing since Saturday morning, with concerns for her well-being growing as time passes.
Search teams remain active in the Woolston area and surrounding suburbs, where investigators believe Hargrave is likely to still be located.
Detective Senior Sergeant Baillie said police do not believe she has travelled far from the area, but the length of time since she was last seen has heightened concerns.
“Given the time that has passed since the confirmed sighting of Valerie, her family and police are growing increasingly concerned for her welfare,” he said, as quoted by 1News.
Residents in Woolston have been asked to assist by checking their properties, sheds, gardens, and other areas where Hargrave may have sought shelter, as reported by 1News.
According to 1News, Police described Hargrave as being about 167cm tall, of small build, and walking with a shuffle. She was last seen wearing a pink cardigan or jersey.
Authorities have advised that there will be an increased police presence in the area as officers continue making enquiries and following up on information.
Baillie said police remain focused on locating Hargrave safely and are urging anyone who may have seen her or has information about her whereabouts to come forward, 1News has reported.
