Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik, the former husband of Indian tennis icon Sania Mirza, is once again making headlines, this time for his personal life.
Media reports suggest that Malik’s marriage to his third wife, Sana Javed, may be heading towards a divorce.
According to a report by India TV, the speculations erupted after a video went viral on social media showing the couple maintaining distance and avoiding interaction in public. In the clip, Malik is seen signing autographs for fans, while Sana keeps her face turned away.
Shoaib and Sana had tied the knot in January 2024, following Malik’s separation from Sania Mirza, whom he married in 2010. The couple share a son, Izyan.
The news of Malik’s divorce from Mirza was confirmed by the tennis star’s family last year.
“Sania has always kept her personal life away from the public eye. However, today the need has arisen for her to share that Shoaib and she have been divorced for a few months now. She wishes Shoaib well for his new journey ahead! At this sensitive period of her life, we would like to request all fans and well-wishers to refrain from indulging in any speculation and to respect her need for privacy,” her family had stated, India TV reported.
Before marrying Mirza, Shoaib was married to Ayesha Siddiqui for eight years. Reports about his separation from Sana Javed have not been officially confirmed by either party, but the viral video has fueled widespread speculation that their relationship is under strain, India TV reported.
On the professional front, Malik has retired from Tests and ODIs and has publicly stated that he has no plans to play T20Is for Pakistan either.
“I have already said that I do not have any interest in playing for the Pakistan Cricket team. I have already retired from two formats, Tests and ODIs. In T20Is, I do not have any interest in playing for the Pakistan team. So my plan is to retire from all forms of cricket once and for all,” Shoaib had announced last year, as quoted by India TV.
As fans react to the latest reports, many are keenly awaiting confirmation from Shoaib or Sana regarding the status of their marriage.
