NZ PM Cheers India

New Zealand PM's Epic

New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon has congratulated Team India on their historic ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 victory, calling the side “world-class” and praising their performance in the thrilling final against South Africa. Reported by ANI

Speaking to ANI, Luxon said he was backing India after the White Ferns’ exit, especially following their semi-final win over Australia.

New call-to-action

“We’d have loved New Zealand to win, but as long as someone beats Australia, that’s all we care about — and you guys do it so well,” he joked.

India’s win marked their first-ever Women’s World Cup title, making them the fourth nation to lift the trophy after Australia, England, and New Zealand.

In front of a sold-out crowd of 45,000, Harmanpreet Kaur’s team clinched victory in a nail-biting finish, with the skipper taking the final catch to dismiss Nadine de Klerk.

New call-to-action

The tournament also shattered attendance records — India’s matches against Bangladesh and New Zealand drew crowds of over 25,000 each, setting new milestones for women’s cricket viewership.

A proud moment for India — and for every fan who loves seeing Australia get beaten!
