The Kerala High Court on Tuesday (February 24, 2026) directed that The Kerala Story 2: Goes Beyond be screened before the court after observing that its teaser and trailer appear to “wrongly portray” the people of Kerala. The Hindu.
The direction came while Justice Bechu Kurian Thomas was hearing petitions challenging the grant of a censor certificate to the film.
During the proceedings, the judge remarked, “The people of Kerala live in harmony and uphold secularism. But the film portrays them wrongly,” expressing concern over how the State and its residents have been depicted in the promotional material.
The court has sought steps to arrange a screening of the film on Wednesday for further consideration.
