Hindu Women Forum to Host First-Ever Conference in New Zealand

The Hindu Women Forum, a division of the Hindu Council of New Zealand, will host the inaugural New Zealand Hindu Women Conference on Saturday, 20 September 2025, at the High Commission of India Auditorium Hall in Wellington.
Supported by the HOTA Forum New Zealand, this landmark event will run from 9.00 am to 5.30 pm.
With the theme “Promoting Women – Strengthening Communities”, the conference aims to celebrate achievements, highlight challenges, and create opportunities for Hindu women to strengthen their role in families, communities, and the nation’s future.
The program will feature keynote addresses by national and international speakers, panel discussions on leadership and decision-making, cultural performances, and recognition of outstanding contributions by Hindu women.
Plenary sessions will cover topics such as partnerships with government agencies, women in public leadership, and Hindu women’s engagement in academia, media, and community organisations.
The day will begin with Māori and Hindu prayers, followed by an inaugural session attended by dignitaries, including Her Excellency Neeta Bhushan, High Commissioner of India to New Zealand.
Invitations have also been extended to representatives from the Ministry for Women, Ministry for Ethnic Communities, Ministry of Social Development, and New Zealand Police.
The conference is open to women of all ages, community leaders, professionals, students, and men who wish to support women’s leadership. Registration is $25, with free entry for up to 20 university students.
“This conference marks a milestone in empowering Hindu women in New Zealand,” said Vijeshni Rattan, President of the Hindu Council (Wellington Chapter).
