Fiji, India To Strengthen Airways, Discuss Bollywood Shoots

Fiji Airways is set to renew its code share agreement with Air India, according to Acting Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation Viliame Gavoka, Sun Fiji reported

Speaking at the Fiji Tourism Expo 2024, which began at the Sheraton Fiji Golf and Beach Resort,  Gavoka highlighted India as an emerging market that Fiji aims to connect with through Singapore.

“We want to strengthen the Singapore-India sector and the Singapore-Fiji leg. We will be renewing the code share with Air India's presence in the market,” Gavoka stated.

He also mentioned that Fiji is in discussions with Bollywood producers to shoot Hindi movies in Fiji this year.

“We are looking at shooting some Hindi movies here, collaborating with my colleagues in India and those at Film Fiji,” Mr Gavoka said.

Mr Gavoka expressed optimism about Fiji's tourism prospects, noting that the country is on track to welcome a record million visitors this year. He emphasized Fiji's brand message, 'Where Happiness Comes Naturally,' which showcases Fiji's authentic beauty, culture, and experiences to the world.

“It’s about meaningful travel and connecting with travellers at a deeper level,” he added.

Encouraging vendors to share their unique stories, Mr Gavoka expressed appreciation for buyers who have traveled far to experience Fiji's natural happiness.

The Fiji Tourism Expo aims to highlight Fiji's tourism offerings and attract visitors from around the world, including from cities like Sydney, Beijing, and Times Square.
