Fire crews from across the Wellington region were called in to battle a large vegetation fire on Wallaceville Hill in Upper Hutt late on Thursday night.
According to a report by Stuff, Fire and Emergency New Zealand (Fenz) said the fire was reported at about 11.10 pm and was brought under control in the early hours of Friday morning.
“Crews from around the Wellington area are in attendance, and 14 trucks are currently on site, along with other support vehicles,” a Fenz spokesperson said, Stuff has quoted.
While there was no immediate threat to buildings, Fire and Emergency New Zealand urged the public to stay away from the area and to follow instructions from emergency services and police at the scene, as reported by Stuff.
