An Indian man is reported to have died in Auckland today, leaving behind a pregnant wife and a toddler, thus bringing grief in the family in the community.

It is reported that the man, whose name cannot yet be disclosed, came back from his work (taxi-driving) and suffered brain haemorrhage while sleeping, and followed by a heart attack on early hours of Sunday, August 19.

The doctors at the Middlemore hospital have been trying to revive him all day since morning 8.30 a.m. when he was first brought to the hospital, but to no avail.

Several leaders of the community who were present in the hospital told the Indian Weekender that the man belonged to the Indian state of Punjab.

The office of the High Commission of India has been informed and they are making further contacts with the family of the deceased in India.

It is believed that the deceased man has a mother and two other siblings back in Punjab.
