Police have apprehended three men responsible for the armed robbery at St Lukes mall jewellery store robbery today.

Police said the men fled the mall in a stolen vehicle that they abandoned near Baldwin Avenue train station.

After abandoning the car, the men travelled by train to Kingsland, before hopping on another train to Ranui, where they were apprehended in a street near the train station.

Three men armed with axe, hammer and bat have robbed a jewellery store inside St Lukes mall just after 3 p.m. this afternoon sending the shoppers into a frenzy.

It was reported that Michael Hill, a jewellery store on the ground floor of the popular mall was robbed by miscreants who raided the store and took an undisclosed amount worth of jewellery and fled the store.

A witness at the mall told Stuff that she saw a man wielding a red axe at the store attendant inside Micahel Hill. 

The reporter also said that a second store in the mall, Silvermoon Luxe, had also been targeted and had a broken window. 

The mall was immediately put on lockdown in the aftermath of the incident until the police was called.

The mall is open for shopping now but there is a heavy presence of police inside the mall and police have cordoned the area of the incident.
