‘Talks of marriage’ were on for the missing Indian man.

The family of the missing Indian man from Masterton – Gurwinder Singh Dandian – has told local media that talks were going on for his marriage.

A piece of news appearing in the local Indian media the Hindustan Times quoted Gurwinder’s father, Rajwinder Singh saying, “The talks of his marriage were going on. We had sent him the pictures of a girl, but he had not replied.”

Earlier it was reported that 26-year-old Gurwinder Singh who first arrived in NZ in 2015 on a student visa and was working as Assistant Manager in a Pizza shop in Masterton, has been missing since Tuesday, March 5.

The last confirming sighting of Mr Singh was reported near a beach 1.5 kilometres of Cape Palliser Lighthouse (Masterton) around 4-4.30 p.m. on Tuesday. This was about 100 kilometre south

An initial search mission by police had found Mr Singh’s belongings, including his car near the Wairarapa beach causing “grave concerns” for his safety as was not a swimmer.

Subsequently, the Police Dive Squad had completed a water search, and a shoreline search by Thursday, with further shoreline search activity and another aerial search of the area being planned.

The police is encouraging anyone with information about Mr Singh to contact Masterton Police on 06 370 0300.
