Prime Minister Narendra Modi turned 75 on 17th September, with warm wishes flowing in from leaders across party lines as the nation marked the day with fervour. While several leaders praised his “extraordinary leadership,” others extended prayers for his health and long life.

Children in Mumbai celebrated the occasion with a cake-cutting ceremony at Lalbaug, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organised a series of programmes, including blood donation camps, cleanliness drives, and exhibitions across the country. The party also launched Seva Pakhwada, a 15-day nationwide campaign to honour the Prime Minister’s milestone birthday, Hindustan Times reported.

New call-to-action

President Droupadi Murmu lauded Modi’s contribution in “instilling a culture of achieving great goals” and prayed for his continued health and joy. Union Home Minister Amit Shah hailed him as a “symbol of sacrifice and dedication,” while Defence Minister Rajnath Singh described him as a leader who had given India “new energy and a new direction” on the global stage.

From the Opposition, Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi extended wishes, with Gandhi praying for Modi’s good health. Senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor too conveyed greetings, alongside NCP(SP) chief Sharad Pawar, who wished for “continued progress of our nation under his guidance.”

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman highlighted Modi’s “unwavering commitment to put India’s interest above all else,” while Union Minister Piyush Goyal praised his dedication to ensuring welfare schemes reached citizens at the grassroots.

Former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and AAP leader Atishi also wished the Prime Minister, as did Delhi CM Rekha Gupta, who credited Modi with supporting the capital’s development through investments in connectivity, metro expansion, and sanitation.

As tributes poured in from across the political spectrum, the BJP’s nationwide service activities underlined the celebratory spirit of the day, reflecting both reverence and recognition of the Prime Minister’s leadership.
