Police have confirmed the discovery of the body of Eileen “Ella” Davenport, a 57-year-old Māngere woman who had been missing since June, RNZ reported.
Davenport was last seen at her Hain Avenue home on 20 June. On 10 September, officers located a body during a search in a reserve near Savill Drive.
According to RNZ, Detective Senior Sergeant Mike Hayward of Counties Manukau West CIB said the search area was challenging, consisting of dense scrubland and a creek that flows into the Manukau Estuary.
“It has taken us some time, but we can confirm that the body has now been formally identified as Ms Davenport,” Hayward said in a statement, quoted RNZ.
Police confirmed they are not treating the death as suspicious. Davenport’s body has been returned to her whānau.
