IPL auctions: Yuvraj, Corey rake the moolah

The 2014 Pepsi Indian Premier League (IPL) auctions, dashing Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh turned out to be the biggest buy as Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) bought the 2011 World Cup hero by paying a record Rs 14 crore.

Current IPL champions Mumbai Indians bought New Zealand's batting wonder Corey Anderson for Rs.4.5 crore.

Among other Kiwis in the auction, 
Chennai Super Kings picked up New Zealand skipper Brendon McCullum for Rs.3.25 crore.

New Zealand cricketer Ross Taylor, who was unsold on Wednesday, was bagged by Delhi Daredevils for Rs 2 crore, after being unsold on Day 1 of the auctions.

A total of 154 players were sold, out of which 50 were overseas, on the two days of the auction. This comprises 80 capped players and 74 uncapped players.

Out of the 154 players, 117 have played in the IPL before. Ten have been part of IPL sides, but haven't played a single game. The remaining 27 will figure in the IPL for the first time.

A total of 178 players (60 overseas) will feature in the Pepsi IPL 2014.

Sixty six players will represent the same side that they had played for, in Pepsi IPL 2013. 24 of these were retained prior to the 2014 Pepsi IPL Player Auction.

Thirteen were acquired through the RTM, and 29 were purchased, during the auction.

Wicket-keeper Dinesh Kartik had a good day in the auction as Delhi Daredevils paid Rs 12.5 crores for him.

The franchisee also bought England discard Kevin Pietersen for Rs 9 crore.

Shah Rukh Khan's Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) bought Jacques Kallis, who had played for the team last season also, for Rs.5.50 crore. The franchise made a smart move by buying Robin Uthappa (Rs.5 crore).

Sunrisers Hyderabad took opener David Warner (Rs.5.5 crore) besides picking up pacer Ishant Sharma (Rs.2.60 crore), Irfan Pathan (Rs.2.40 crore), Aaron Finch ( Rs.4 crore) and Bhuvneshwar Kumar (Rs.4.25 crore).

KKR has Rs 9 crore and Delhi Daredevils has Rs 8.6 crore left in their purse.

Rajasthan Royals picked up Australian batsman Steven Smith for Rs.4 crore.

Railways bowler Karn Sharma became the costliest buy among the uncapped players as he fetched Rs 3.75 crore deal with Sunrisers Hyderabad
