Prepare for a full day of fun at Multi-Cultural Diwali festival in Papatoetoe

The season of celebrations has just started and with that comes the first big Diwali celebrations of the month – the Multi-Cultural Diwali Festival in Papatoetoe by Auckland Indian Retailers Association- AIRA, on Saturday, October 6 starting 2 p.m.

The annual event organised by AIRA draws thousands of people of all ages and ethnicities to come to the event and enjoy the festivity of Diwali, the biggest festival of the Indian Community.

The organisers promise that this year’s show will be the best so far with performances from multi-ethnic community groups such as Pacifika Band, Maori Haka, Chinese Folk performance, Fiji Indian dances and songs, with the obvious performances from local talented individuals and groups on several Bollywood and Punjabi music.

Gearing for the event is also the comedian from Punjab Parvinder Singh who has given rib-tickling performances back home.

“In the past, we have had amazing performances from local artists and stand-up comedians – and this weekend we promise a full day of fun and entertainment to our community,” President of AIRA, Dr Preet said.

“We have a number of activities planned to children as well such as rides, bouncy castles, henna, face painting etc. and there will be food stalls serving lip-smacking delicacies and cuisines from different parts of India.” Dr Preet added.

The event looks forward to hosting people from every corner of Auckland celebrating and observing the first most significant event for Diwali 2018. Indian retailers from different suburbs of Auckland, Otara-Papatoetoe Local Board and Hunters Corner, Papatoetoe support the event. The event is fully vegetarian and very secure for the families.
