Bollywood dance fest on again

A total $15,000 will be up for grabs at this year’s annual Bollywood High School Dance Competition to be held in Auckland in August.
 
This year’s event, named "Fusion 2010", will be held on August 7 at the Logan Campbell Centre – the 12th year for the high school dance bonanza.
 
And, as every year, it will be an exciting and new venture for students to participate in and the organizers expect record entries this time.
 
“Every year, we come up with a theme name and students are encouraged to choreograph their dance moves to the theme chosen,” one of the main organizers, Deepa, said.
 
“Our rules and regulations have changed this year which gives more students to participate and which will also, encourages students to put in that little extra effort to make this competition much bigger and harder for the judges and audiences to judge.”
 
The high school dance competition has been held annually and has been the most successful and the most wanted show over the past decade. This show is the only Bollywood event which has been successfully held in New Zealand over the past decade attracting 30,000 people plus at the Logan Campbell Centre.
 
“This year we are celebrating the 12th Annual Bollywood High School Dance Competition in a much bigger and exciting way to mark the successful event held over the past decade,” said Deepa, who is a key member of the musical family behind the show.
 
“This music and dance festival is to ensure that the people of New Zealand and all multicultural ethnic groups join hands, understand, foster, human rights, become a good citizen, promote and respect each other religion, culture, and businesses for a ‘united’ New Zealand in this Western world for the betterment for our young ones.”
 
The dance competition is open to students of all ethnicities in high schools in New Zealand.
 
“Each year there is an increase in cash prize and so to mark the celebration and to make this the most memorable event for the family and friends and not forgetting all the students and teachers, we are giving away cash prizes of $15,000 in total at stake and up to $300 each for the preparation of the show.
 
“This is going to be the biggest and the best ever show to date. The best ever show for the third decade.”
 
The competition takes place with around 30 High Schools from all around Auckland. This consists of a total of 350 students participating in conjunction with 3000 plus rocking fans each year.
 
The hand behind the success of the Bollywood High School Dance Competitions is  Binesh Sumer, who knows just the right ingredients to turn every event into a memorable one.
 
The managing director of Desi International Showbiz, and guitarist for “His Masters Orchestra” has been in the showbiz for over 34 years.
 
With a history in music and a family of musicians daughters Deepa, Neera and son Shivnesh who have been entertaining the crowd with their voices, area trio sensation of the South Pacific.
 
Having organized the competition for 11 years in a row now, Sumer knows just how to get the crowd rocking. Thirty different High Schools from all around New Zealand look forward to this event to showcase their talent.
 
Schools and Colleges encourage their students to participate in an event that promotes a better understanding for different cultures. This competition is open to all people of all ethnicities.
 
Apart from the culture events, Binesh has successfully organized International Film Stars Nites attracting top celebrities from Bollywood industry to perform in New Zealand, Australia and Fiji.
 
Desi International Showbiz has given platform to over 30 different high schools, 3000 students and witness by some 3000 rocking fans for the past 11 years in total.
 
This show has also been viewed by more than 1.3 million audience on Mirchee TV over the past six years.
