An Indian dance group, Tapasya Dance will perform at the Viva Eclectika 2018 international dance festival pairing with a Bulgarian dance group.

Viva Eclectika is Aotearoa's International Dance and Music Biennal challenge to promote unity, goodwill, understanding and positive relations between the people of New Zealand through intercultural dance and music.

Tapasya Dance will be a part of Viva Eclectika 2018 and will be pairing with Bulgarian Roses to encapsulate the spirit of unity in diversity.  In this performance, Bulgarian dancers will be seen dancing to Indian classical music and Indian dancers tapping their feet to Bulgarian music.

The theme of the presentation is "Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu', which simply translates to" May Happiness Prevail".

The concept of this performance is the brainchild of Dr Dhanya Sreekanth, who is also the founder and educator of Tapasya School of classical dance. She has choreographed this dance along with Marieta Kolarska, lead dancer Bulgarian Roses.

“Tapasya School was founded in February last year with the aim of promoting Indian Classical Dances and culture in the country. We offer training for everyone invariable of their age, as our motto is ’Love for Dance’,” co-founder of Tapasya Dance School, Sreekanth Vidhyadharan told The Indian Weekender

Dr Dhanya is a scientist by profession and dance is her passion. She is also a busy mother of three little boys and supported by her husband Sreekanth Vidhyadharan who is an Engineer by profession and also the co-founder of Tapasya Dance.

Viva Eclectika will be held on Saturday, July 28 at Dorothy Winston Centre in Newton. The show will start at 7 p.m. and tickets are available on Eventbrite and at the venue.
