23-year-old Perumal Dinakaran of Napier, originally from Chennai, India has died in a road accident on the Hawke’s Bay Expressway in Hastings on May, 24 around 7.53am.
The Indian Weekender spoke with Kartik, one of the flatmates of Mr Dinakaran, who told that Indian High Commission is in touch with them and assisting in body repatriation.
Mr Dinakaran was currently on job search visa, which had started in October 2017, soon after completion of his studies.
“He arrived in New Zealand about two and half years ago on a student visa and was doing a course in cookery,” Kartik said.
“He worked as a merchandiser, and started his work at 4.30 am by putting loaves of bread in racks of different supermarkets.”
“It appears that he had finished his work in Napier and was going to Hasting, when met with the unfortunate accident,” Kartik told the Indian Weekender.
More details are awaited.
