Aarohi Academy of Music has once again produced a fantastic show that echoed the evergreen voices of the Mangeshkar family.
The Khamoshiyaan Gun Guna Ne Lagi musical event held at the Dorothy Winston Centre in Auckland on Saturday, April 7, showcased some of the best local singers in the city. The event was held for the fourth time in the last four years, and it was successful with a full house at the concert venue.
The concert was an ode to the Mangeshkar family siblings –Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle, Usha Mangeshkar and Hridaynath Mangeshkar and their contribution to the music industry of India.
Director of Aarohi Academy Vidya Teke along with other prominent local singers such as Shweta Diverkar-Shirsat, Arif Zia, Joseph, Guncha Singh, Hemant Shirsat and Arun Khotkar performed at the event.
Each of the singers has their own style of performing and a very distinct melodious voice. Singer Vidya Teke, who has performed numerous concerts in New Zealand and India and is said to have a voice close to Lata Mangeshkar, the nightingale of India. Similarly, Arif Zia is a master in singing songs by Mohd. Rafi and Joseph as the voice of Kishore Kumar.
The musicians in the background too produced flawless music creating the magic of their fingers on the instruments.
The students of Aarohi Academy of Music also performed different songs from the Bollywood films of the 1970s, and after and showed they are next singing sensations of Auckland.
Songs from the films Padosan, Dastak, Taal, Dil to Pagal Hai etc. were performed at the event.
Each of the songs garnered thunders of applause reverberating through the hall and the crowd gave a standing ovation to the singers for giving them a perfect Saturday evening.
