Dairy owner left with fractured skull after robbers attack with axe and machete

A dairy owner has been left with a broken skull early Tuesday morning, March 13 after robbers attacked him with axe and machete.

Hamilton Police are investigating the aggravated robbery of Emm Jay Dairy, on the corner of Brookfield and Grey Streets.

The robbery took place at around 8.30 a.m. when two masked males entered the dairy armed with an axe and a machete and approached the lone male shopkeeper, striking him on the head and hands with the machete.

They then stole cigarettes and cash from the store before leaving, heading south in a stolen silver Mazda Familia, registration FEP218.

As a result of the attack, the man suffered significant wounds to his head and hands and was transported to Waikato Hospital for medical assistance.

It has since been confirmed that he has a fractured skull.

The Indian Weekender spoke to a family member of the injured who mentioned that the dairy is closed for the day and the injured member of the family has returned from the Waikato Hospital and is resting at his home.

They refused to comment further.

Police would like to hear from anyone who was in the area of the dairy at the time of the robbery who may have seen the car described above or witnessed the offenders entering or leaving the store.
