Several members of Telangana community in New Zealand are joining delegates from about 30 other countries around the world to participate in World Telugu Conference being held in Hyderabad from December 15 -19.
Kalyan Rao Kasungati, President of Telangana Association of New Zealand (TANZ) and Vijaybhaskar Reddy Kosna, President Telangana Rashtra Samithi New Zealand are already camping in Hyderabad since Monday, December 11.
Whereas Jyothi Mallikarjun Reddy, President Telangana Jagruthi New Zealand departed Auckland on Wednesday, December 13, to participate in the mega cultural event.
The World Telugu Conference (WTC) is being held to promote the rich heritage and culture of Telugu language, and the Chief Minister of Telangana state K. Chandrashekar Rao is taking a keen interest in the success of the event.
Recently, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Party MP, Kalvakuntla Kavitha had opened an office in Hyderabad, exclusively dedicated to the conference, signalling the intent of the government to make this mega event a grand success.
Toward this goal Mahesh Bigala, the Non-Resident Indian (NRI) coordinator of the World Telugu Conference, had travelled to the United Kingdom, United States, Canada and Austria to meet and invite all NRIs and community groups to participate in the conference and make it a grand success.
The event will be inaugurated by the Vice President of India, M. Venkaiah Naidu.
About 8,000 delegates from across the world will be gathering in the pearl city of Hyderabad to discuss how to promote, enrich and preserve the Telugu language.
Over 900 Telugu poets would be participating in a kavi sammelan during the five-day mega event.
The President of India Ramanath Kovind will be the chief guest at the valedictory function of the conference.
Recently, Telugu community of Auckland got the chance to participate in one of the preparatory meetings.
There have been several rounds of such preparatory meetings held in several countries around the world in the lead up to the much-publicised event.
One such preparatory meeting was organised in Auckland on Sunday, November 19, by Vijay Reddy Kosna, Kalyan Rao Kasuganti, Narender Reddy Patllola and other leaders of the Telangana community.
During the meeting, information related to the conference was presented by Manabadi Telugu Language School Co-Founder, Muralidhar Rangu, and Manabadi language school teacher, Sunitha Vijay.
