One family member, of the wild-boar eating trio, currently lying in vegetative state in the Waikato Hospital has shown some signs of improvement.
The case of Husband and wife Shibu Kochummen, 35, and Subi Babu, 32, and Mr Kochummen's 62-year-old mother, Alekutty Daniel, has shocked the community and the medical world of New Zealand ever since erupting on the national scene two weeks ago.
Shibu Kochummen, Subi Babu, and Shibu's mum Alekutty Daniel were rushed to the hospital about two weeks ago after Mr Kochummen had called emergency services after eating the meat of a wild-boar hunted locally.
The family had since been unresponsive.
However, 62-year-old grand-mother, Alekutty Daniel, have started the first signs of responding to medicinal intervention.
Earlier, on Sunday, Ms Daniel was reported to move her eyes following doctor’s fingers.
Now, today, Ms Daniel is reported to have been able to mutter few words, though in her mother tongue and just vaguely, nowhere near to a well-meaning conversation.
However, suggesting that there were some signs of her tongue limping back to normal functioning.
Experts believed that the road to full recovery would be long and arduous.
Relatives arrive from India
Last week relatives of the ill-fated family have arrived from India to take care of two children aged 7 and 1.
The relatives were reported to be shattered after seeing the condition of their family members, prompting the close-knit Malayali community of Hamilton to go in a close huddle to plan next course of action on supporting the family.
The kids, along with the family members were so far looked after by the friends, members of the community, and the Hamilton Marthoma congregation.
Kid get back to life again
Following the close huddle, close friends and community members had then decided to let one of the kids (aged 7) get back to life by starting school again.
Joji Varghese, the spokesman and a close friend of the family, told the media, "We had a very nice call from her principal yesterday, and he said they're more than happy to look after her for the remainder of the school term, about three weeks."
The close-knit community had decided that the elder girl would go back to school on Monday to finish the year with her friends and try to establish some normality.
The 1-year-old daughter will stay in Hamilton with her aunt and uncle from India.
