Police and other emergency services are currently responding to an incident in Ladies Mile, Ellerslie.
It is believed a number of workmen were underground when an explosion has occurred.
One person is believed to have received moderate injuries which include burns to their arms and is receiving treatment at the scene.
Cordons are in place at Ladies Mile and Remuera Road.
Worksafe NZ will be notified.
