The city's Muslim community gathered at the Cowles Stadium on the morning of September 2, to offer the Eid-ul-Adha prayers.
Later, on Sunday, the Canterbury Muslim Community Trust (CMCT) organised an Eid Breakfast event, which was attended by over 100 people.
The well-attended event was by registration with free catered meals for a diverse multicultural cross section of the Christchurch Muslim community, CMCT said.
The event included a super kids speech competition and some great singing from pre-schoolers, the organisers added. In line with the message of Eid, the food that was not served was donated to the Help the Homeless for distribution.
Notably, the Muslim Association of Canterbury had also organised an Eid pot-luck picnic on Sunday at the Groynes, which was cancelled due to bad weather.
