A dairy store in New Windsor was robbed at gunpoint on Monday, August 28 afternoon.

It was reported in the media that police was called at Ram’s New Windsor Superette on 57 New Windsor Road at around 3:20 p.m.

The offenders who are still at large used a firearm to commit the crime and got away with tobacco and cash.

The police is investigating the brazen incident, and no ambulance was called.

The former owner of the dairy store Ram Lochan, who sold the store last year told The Herald that the shop had been robbed thrice in the last 23 years.

In 2008 when his friend’s nearby dairy store was robbed, Mr Lochan had then told the media that he was worried about dairy store owners who had no way to protect themselves.

"When we protect ourselves, we get charged - and if we don't, we get stabbed. What do we do?" he asked.
