A man has been hospitalised and is said to be in a ‘serious condition’ after he was robbed on Friday, August 4, afternoon.
Two men robbed Gossamer Liquor near the intersection Gossamer Drive and Ussher Place in Pakuranga on Friday at around 4 p.m. and fled in their car with bottles of alcohol.
The owner of the store suffered a medical event at the scene following the incident and is in a serious condition.
A witness at the scene saw the paramedics performing CPR on the man and was taken to the hospital in the ambulance.
The witness at the scene believed that the liquor store owner had suffered a heart attack.
“The person was taken to the Auckland Hospital in a serious condition,” St John’s spokesperson confirmed to the media.
Police were at the scene making inquiries, and the Eagle helicopter also assisted in trying to locate the offenders.
A resident and a worker from the neighbourhood shop told media they saw six police cars and an ambulance outside the store but did not know what happened.
This is not the first time Gossamer Liquor has been a victim of the robbery. The store was robbed at gunpoint in February this year; Counties Manukau Police had posted on Facebook at the time.
