Christchurch hit by massive earthquake: 111 line non-operational

A magnitude 6.6 earthquake occurred 15 km SE of Hanmer Springs, New Zealand at Mon Nov 14, 2016, 12:02 AM (NZDT). 

The quake was 16 kilometers deep and the intensity was severe close to the quake. The quake may have been felt in Blenheim, French Pass, Picton, Seddon, Wellington, Arthur's Pass, Collingwood, Greymouth, Hokitika, Karamea, Motueka, Murchison, Nelson, Reefton, St Arnaud, Westport, Akaroa, Amberley, Ashburton, Cheviot, Christchurch, Culverden, Geraldine, Hanmer Springs, Kaikoura, Methven, Oxford and surrounding localities.

Earthquake effect on Police services. Police advise that all Emergency 111 lines are currently nonoperational.

All calls for Police service should be made to the local police station which will then forwarded to a Police Communication Centre for actioning. At this time Police is unable to advise when normal services will resume.
