The Otara Network and Manukau City Council are celebrating ‘Otara in Action’ on Thursday 26 November.
Held at the Otara Music Arts Centre at 6.30pm, the event is an acknowledgement of the great ideas, actions and people who have shaped the Otara community over the past 50 years.
Council’s team leader community advisors Karen Johns says that the evening is about celebrating the past and designing the future.
“We’re inviting leaders, activists, and youth and community workers past and present. The evening is open to everyone who has contributed to the Otara community.
“We will be creating a decade by decade wall of remembrance to which people can add their own photos, posters, badges and events. We will also be sharing stories of our successes which we hope to record and contribute to the libraries’ heritage collection.
”There is a lot of knowledge and experience in community development gained over the past 50 years. We see this evening as a great opportunity for our younger community and youth workers to share in this knowledge.”
