Mount Roskill had a Community Patrol for the first time after their launch recently.

National List MP Dr ParmjeetParmar attended the event at St Giles Presbyterian Church.

“It is great to see such a strong sense of caring for the safety of people in this community with the launch of the Mount Roskill Community Patrol. I would like to congratulate them and thank them for the work they will be doing helping keep our neighbourhoods safe.

“A community patrol is made up of volunteers who act as eyes and ears for police, helping to create a safer environment to live in.

“They do really good work to help their community and will be a valued addition to Mount Roskill,” says Dr Parmar.

“National has worked hard to help our police build a safer New Zealand; we now have the lowest crime rate since 1978. Our police have focused on prevention first, and we’ve given them better resources to do the job so they can spend less time behind a desk and more time out in their neighbourhoods.

“Together with this new community patrol, I’m sure all our families will feel very secure in their homes and workplaces, as they should!”

Community Patrols of New Zealand was formed in 2001 to promote and foster a collaborative working relationship with Police and to provide resources, support and guidance to local community patrol groups.
