The Mother Teresa Inter Faith Committee invites everyone to honour one of the 20th century’s greatest figures, Mother Teresa of Kolkata.
Among those on the committee are representatives of the Hindu, Muslim, Buddhists, Christians, Sikhs, Zoroastrians and Jewish communities from around the Auckland region. The theme of the gathering is “Love and Peace” which were the guiding principles of Mother Teresa’s life.
His Highness Nawaz Mohammed Abdul Ali, (Prince of Arcot, Chennai, India) will be the Guest Speaker.
The commemorative ceremony is hosted by the Catholic Bishop of Auckland, Bishop Patrick Dunn. Young people and Communities representing the various cultures will offer musical and dance tributes.
Mother Teresa was revered by world leaders and people of all faiths and one of the reasons for the initiative was that Mother reached out to everyone irrespective of faith and community and there was a need to come together as one body to pay tribute to her. In words echoing those of the members of the committee it is said Mother Teresa’s love and compassion, crossing all boundaries, knew no bounds “Her humble and dedicated care of the dying, the unwanted, the lonely and those who were desperately poor is legendary and is a legacy that continues to this day,” The function is open to the public and will be held at
