Assalamu Alaikkum Wa Rahmathulahi Wa Barakathu~~!!
"May the Peace, Mercy, and Blessings of Allah be with you”
I am extremely happy to send this message to coincide with the Month of Ramazan. This time is most auspicious and significant to Muslims globaly. All Muslims who are able, observe fasting during this Month.
New Zealand along with other dutiful nations offers facilities and opportunities for Muslims to observe their fast in peace and harmony. This open understanding and freedom being offered to a minority group of New Zealand truly reflects the humanity of all New Zealanders.
Ramazan which is one of the principles of Islam is also a month of Zakath (obligatiory charity) where fortunate brothers and sisters offer part of their wealth to those not so fortunate in the community. Zakath charity is not limited to being given to only deserving Muslims but is extended to anyone in the community who is deserving, completely independent of their faith. The noble practice of Zakath helps bring about peace and harmony between all people within a community.
During the month of Ramazan, all able Muslims, by observing fast, show their gratitude to Allahu Thala – Almighty God for all the tangible and non-tangible things received in the other eleven months of the year.
In this message I wish to also mention that I am aware of the selfless service done by Brother Mohamed Iqbal for the last 43 years, through him representing in New Zealand of The Motamar Al Alam Al Islami (World Muslim Congress) in sustaining the close religious harmony in New Zealand.
I pray to Almighty Allahu Thala to guide us in the right path to observe the Fast piously to obtain all merits and good deeds showered upon us during this holy Month of Ramazan
I thank all New Zealanders for their goodwill and I wish all Muslims "Ramazan Kareem" – a generous and happy Ramazan and Salaams
His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Haniffa Mohamed.
