NZICA, one of the country’s oldest Indian associations, elected its office bearers for the forthcoming year recently in Auckland at its 87th Annual General Conference. Mr Harshad Patel was elected President; Mr Bhikhu Bhana as Vice President; Mr Prakash Biradar as General Secretary; Mr Rupinder Virk as Assistant Secretary and Mr Manjit Singh as Treasurer.
The event was well attended by delegates from across the country and was addressed by Judith Collins, Minister of Ethnic Affairs, Mayor of Hamilton July Hardaker, Race Relations Commissioner Dame Susan Devoy, MPs Mr. Bakshi, Dr. Prasad and First Secretary Indian High Commission Mr Randev.
Anil Channa (Manukau Indian Association), Anita Narang (Central Districts Indian Association), Davinder Kaur (Country Section Indian Association), Dhirubhai Patel (Auckland Indian Association), Jeram Dullabh (Waikato Indian Association) and Krishnalal Praji (Bay of Plenty Indian Association) were conferred with Community Service Awards.
