The Punjabi community in New Zealand is coming together with a vibrant vision for the future generation.
“The NZ Punjabi Foundation has been formed to celebrate, and encourage excellence in the field of Punjabi art, culture, and sports etc and recognise outstanding academic achievements by our youngsters here,” foundation spokesperson Parminder Singh said.
“The Punjabis in New Zealand have been here for nearly 135 years and have their due share in pioneering this beautiful country.
“The NZ Punjabi Foundation would like to liaison and seek close co-operation with all sections of the Punjabi community here-both individually and organizationally.
“Our aim is to empower the next generation in meeting the challenges in the social, political and economic spheres and integrate them fully in this great New Zealand multi- cultural society of ours,” Singh said.
The proactive team will come up with the vision and programmes to meet these aims.
