Then you may need to attend a free seminar on "Yoga for Stress" to be held on Tuesday, May 29, from 6.30 to 8pm at Linton Park Community Centre, 16 Kamahi Place, Rotorua.
Hindu Council of New Zealand has invited Philip Stevens (Swami Samnyasananda), a consultant neurophysiologist, sleep scientist, and a certified yoga teacher to conduct this free seminar for the benefit of Rotorua public. Swami will be touring New Zealand this month.
Swami Samnyasananda holds Science degrees in Psychology and Physiology, with a research based Honours degree in Physiology, completed at the Centre for Sleep Research at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in South Australia. He has a post-graduate Clinical Training in Mind Body Medicine from Harvard Medical School, Boston USA.
He is a Life Member and Fellow of the “World Society For Clinical Yoga” with over 30 years of experience in classes, personal tuition & counselling in Yoga, Meditation, Relaxation and Stress Management (MBTI Accredited).
Currently, he is a research advisor for the Swan Research Institute (NSW), also an academic advisor for research plus teaching and tutoring at Monash Medical School in Melbourne. He is completing PhD research exploring the neurophysiological effects of certain yogic breathing and meditation techniques.
He has conducted many courses in Australia, Singapore and other countries and has written many learning manuals on Yoga for instructors.
Swami Samnyasananda also gives personal consultations, education and training in health and well-being in four main areas: "Better breathing", "Better sleep", "Understanding and dealing with Stress" and "Gentle Yoga & Stretching".
