It will be a night of nostalgia in Auckland later this year when budding stars gather to pay tribute to one of the greatest living legends of the Indian cinema.

Evergreen hero Dev Anand will be the focus of “Gata Rahe Mera Dil – Tribute to a Living Legend” – in a musical evening to be held at the Dorothy Winstone Centre in November.

And the evening’s programme will be hosted by none other than Dev Anand’s “biggest fan” Kishore Bhanushali (of Gujarat), who bears an uncanny resemblance to the great actor and also has acted in several movies as “Junior Dev Anand”.

Lead vocal of the show is Madhura Datar (of Sa Re Ga Ma fame) from Mumbai and Aucklander Kavinesh Kumar, who earlier this year won the Tarana Idol and is also a former “Kaun Banega Super Star” winner.

Event co-ordinator for Gata Rahe Mera Dil is Preeta Vyas and concept direction is by Radio Tarana’s Gopal Bhatia who will also take the stage with a few songs.

“A lot of Dev Anand film songs will feature throughout the night,” Gopal told the Indian Weekender.

Gata Rahe Mera Dil is from the movie Guide and has been very, very popular over the years, and Dev Saab is well remembered for the movie and the song.”

Gopal said this show was about providing quality entertainment at reasonable prices.

Tickets are priced from $25, $30 and $35. Those who buy VIP tickets before September will be given a $5 discount. They are available at Yogiji’s Food Mart in Mt Roskill and other Indian outlets.
