Manjit Singh among Kiwi Indians in QSM list

Auckland: Long time community worker Manjit Singh is among four other Kiwi Indians who have been recognised for their services to the community and been awarded the Queen's Service Medal (QSM) at this year's Queen's Birthday Celebrations.

The others are Harkishen Singh, Kanta Soni and Parkash Sund, who was the first President of the Otahuhu Gurudwara.

Living in New Zealand since 1988, Mr Manjit Singh has been involved with various Community Activities since 1995. The Pukekohe resident has been a Member of NZ Sikh Society since 1999; Member of Auckland Sikh Society since 2001; President of NZ Punjabi Cultural Association for 2004 to 2007; President of Auckland Sikh Society for 2008 to 2009; President of GOPIO - Pukekohe Chapter for 2008 to 2010; Current Treasurer at NZICA for 2007 till date; Current Vice President of Pukekohe Indian Association

"It is a great honour to receive this recognition," Mr Singh said.
