Auckland Emergency Management is asking residents of a street in Muriwai to leave after detecting land movement under houses.
The west coast town was hit by huge deluges during Cyclone Gabrielle and roads have been closed since.
Auckland Emergency Management (AEM) said it was ordering any residents on Domain Crescent to leave their house now (on Friday midday) and walk on foot down the hill.
AEM deputy controller Rachel Kelleher said: "Go on foot. Do not take a car."
"The concern is that that land will move and that there will be further slips and that could cause damage to house property and ultimately life."
