Hawke's Bay Police have arrested a 32-year-old man in relation to a serious assault last night on a taxi driver in Flaxmere.
Police were notified of the assault around 11.20pm and the driver was taken to hosptital in a serious condition.
The man is due to appear tomorrow in the Hastings District Court charged with wounding with intent to injure.
