An elderly woman found dead in her car in the Auckland suburb of Remuera had been living there for months.
The body of the woman, who was in her 70s, was found in her Suzuki Swift on St Vincent Ave early yesterday morning by Auckland City Mission workers who had been called by residents.
Auckland Council has confirmed it received a complaint form a resident in May about woman living in her car on St Vincent Avenue - but the call had been miscategorised as an incidence of freedom camping.
A council manager says an internal review is underway.
