A fun community cultural event was organised to celebrate the festival of Holi and the spirit of womanhood on Sunday.
The all-women event, which took place at Grace Church Reserve, Flatbush, was arranged by Ranjita Sahota – the founder of a closed Facebook group called Midlife Madness that aims to empower women and focuses on holistic development as well as mental and emotional wellbeing of women.
The event was attended by around 50-60 people, including children and saw the women having a stress-free bonding time as they played Holi.
Speaking about the event, Ranjita said, “I am overwhelmed by the response we got for this event. I want to thank every person who participated and contributed to this event. The fun, the vibes, the energy was spectacular.”
She further added, “I absolutely enjoy inspiring women and bringing them on a social platform to share their challenges and accomplishments and to have fun and enjoyment at the same time. I believe the more we organise such events, the more we will feel encouraged and motivated.”
One of the group members and organiser of the event, Monica Bahri, said, “I love the energy and positivity of women that they bring to these events. We want to empower every woman to feel valued and acknowledged.”
Payal Gupta, another participant, said, "The best part of the event was that my children participated as well and had so much fun. I enjoyed with my friends while my children played safely.”
Interestingly, the event also saw small business and women entrepreneurs whose businesses have been hugely impacted by Covid-19, sharing their journey and inspiring other women.
Sharing her thought about the event, Rajinder Kaur, one of the participants and owner of Kess Hair and Beauty Botany, said, “I absolutely enjoyed every bit of the event. It felt great to speak about my business and share my journey in front of everyone."
