Christchurch Airport has been evacuated after an item of interest was found, the police have confirmed to RNZ.
Airport staff were forced out of the terminal building about 8.15am on Thursday.
A police spokeswoman said police were alerted to “an item of interest" at the airport about 8am.
A police spokesperson says the domestic terminal is in the process of being evacuated as a precaution.
Aviation security and police are investigating.More to follow
