A trailblazer in community initiatives and rising to the occasion every single time in a crisis, Supreme Sikh Society NZ has successfully completed some of the biggest independent projects for community welfare and wellbeing around Auckland.

Some of these include an international standard sporting complex with sports fields and infrastructure, a heritage school, a preschool besides many others to serve the community with a single-minded sense of purpose.

Members of this organisation rose to the occasion during the ongoing pandemic, providing much needed help to wide sections of the community during the lockdowns, by way of free meals and other much needed services.

They were awarded NZ Food Hero Award 2020 under people's choice category in recognition of its exemplary role in providing thousands upon thousands of free meals essential services to thousands of struggling families in South Auckland and beyond that included locals, international students, stranded visitors from overseas across all spectrum of nationalities and ethnicities during different stages of lockdown in New Zealand.

Even in times when there is no crisis, members of this wonderful organisation go to great lengths to serve the community – be it providing hundreds of meals free of charge every day of the week to whoever turns up at their sprawling premises in South Auckland, irrespective of their race, class or background, or helping anybody who is in need.

We are proud to present the inaugural Indian Weekender Community Service Award to the Supreme Sikh Society NZ for their exemplary work with the community and people across the nation in the true spirit of selfless service solely for the benefit of the people. It is a shining and inspiring example and model of how a community organisation ought to be.
