Remember Abhas, the 17-year-old who won the hearts of millions as the singing sensation of the inaugural Amul Star Voice of India contest two years ago?
Abhas, now aged 19, will be performing live in Auckland in July at the Logan Campbell Centre, ASB Showgrounds, in Greenlane.
And with Abhas will be Anwesha, the favourite finalist in the Voice of India Chhote Ustad contest, of which Abhas was the host after his own Voice of India quest.
Abhas, the Judges Choice Award winner and one of the top three in the contest, had instantly secured millions of fans throughout the world with his versatile singing style and original voice.
Anwesha Datta Gupta, now 15, was runner-up in the Chhote Ustad final, where the outcome was solely decided on the number of votes polled. She was the favorite of judges throughout the contest and had the sole distinction of bagging a Sarvottam for all her performances.
She is known for her soulful rendition of a classical based song from the movie Bhool Bulaiya - Mere Dholna. She has also made her debut in commercial playback singing in a Hindi movie Golmaal Returns. The music of this movie was released recently and Anwesha has sung the song Tha Karke, which is said to be the costliest song shot in Bollywood.
Anwesha is said to be into music since the age of four when she was enrolled into the Music Institute of Guru Jayanta Sarkar.
The July 25 programme in Auckland starts at 6.30pm. All dances by Monisha School of Dance of Mt Roskill.
Tickets are $25, $35, and $50, show organizer Sudeshna Chatterji said.
Mrs Chatterji said earlybird and group booking discounts are also available.
Tickets purchased in May would receive a discount of $4 per ticket across all class. Tickets purchased in June would be eligible for a discount of $3 only. No discount in July.
“In addition, we are also offering a group booking discount of $2 per ticket for 10-plus tickets purchased in the same class.”
Tickets for children, below 12 years, are at 50 per cent of the original ticket prices and no discounts are applicable on this.
