Kiwi-Indian MP Priyanca Radhakrishnan has become an electorate MP from Maungakiekie as confirmed in the official results of election 2020 released by the Electoral Commission this afternoon.

This is a major development as Priyanca becomes second ever Kiwi-Indian electorate MP in New Zealand after her Labour Party caucus colleague Dr Gaurav Sharma confirmed winner from Hamilton West on the election night.

Priyanca has already another claim on creating history by becoming the first ever Indian-origin Minister in New Zealand government.

The official results released by electoral commission confirmed that Labour Party candidate Priyanca Radhakrishnan has won Maungakiekie with a majority of 635 votes over National Party candidate Denise Lee.

Alongside, electoral commission also confirmed that National Party has lost two electoral seats of Dr Shane Retti and Matt King, continuing the National's mayhem in 2020 election.

Now the Labour Party has 65 seats compared with 64 on election night and the National Party has 33 seats compared with 35 on election night.
