Dambulla: Riding on a 190 run partnership of skipper Ross Taylor and Scott Styris, New Zealand inflicted a 200 run humiliation on India in the opening match of the ODI tri-series on Tuesday.

Chasing the New Zealand total of 288, India was bundled out for 88, their lowest ever  ODI score against New Zealand.

India had a bad start with both the openers--Sehwag and Karthik--within the eighth over of the match.

Sehwag scored 19 before he got out to Mills, whereas Dinesh Kartik lost to fast bowler Tuffey at a score of 14.

Soon Rohit Sharma followed the suit with a dismal score of four .

Only Jadeja (20), could get a two digit score.

Star Indian batsmen, which includes names like Yuvraj Singh (5), Suresh Raina (6) and skipper M S Dhoni (2), flopped with the bat.

The team returned to the pavilion with 88 runs in total.

New Zealand bowlers did a good job with Tuffey taking 3 wickets by giving only 34 runs.

Mills and Oram took two wickets each.

McKay and KS Williamson got one wicket each.

Earlier, New Zealand had won the toss and had opted to bat first.

R Taylor (95) and veteran Styris (89) sailed the team to a respectable total of 288 runs.

Nehra bowled well to take four wickets by giving 47 runs while Praveen
Kumar took 3 wickets.

The Indian spinners failed to impress.

Ross Taylor was declared 'Man of the Match'.
