Vishal Choksi is one of the many new faces the community will be seeing in the upcoming elections getting his candidature from TEA Party for the Mt Roskill Electorate.

Taxpayers & Entrepreneurs Alliance or TEA Party was established in August 2020 and aimed to bring a voice in New Zealand Parliament for immigrants, marginalised, minorities & ethnic communities.

Vishal hails from the tourism industry with over half a decade of experience in his basket and has been working as a Chief Operating Officer for a Tourism Company in NZ for seven years now.

Vishal has been closely connected with the community for years and was unsure if he should join politics when approached by TEA Party earlier this year. After deliberation of several days and reading through the policies of TEA Party and what it stands for, Vishal took this leap throwing his hat in the ring.

“Through politics, I aim to make a difference in people’s lives- bring those positive and much-needed changes in the lives of ethnic migrants living in the Roskill region and a definitive voice of the community and not the other way round in the parliament,” Vishal told The Indian Weekender.

Vishal adds that in the upcoming elections, he and his party will be focussing his campaign and voice on three crucial matter to the community, namely, family reunion, international student sector and trade agreements with India & Pacific countries.

“I want to emphasise on streamlining the current immigration policies that are not designed well for the ethnic communities living in New Zealand.

“The parent category visa and its criteria are outrageous, partnership visa policies and work visa rules too is not architected to help the migrant community settle in NZ,” Vishal added.

“At TEA Party, we propose a tourism policy that will be of good support to our businesses and communities, and as I have been a resident for Mt Roskill Electorate for years now, I am the local guy who knows and is connected with the community very well,” Vishal added.
